Cheesy Tofu Scramble

Tofu scramble just got better with cheese! Flavored with spices including kala namak, it has an eggy flavor. Nutritional yeast and vegan cheese add the cheesy goodness. Pair with your favorite bread and fruit and you’ll be set for breakfast.

CHEESY TOFU SCRAMBLE

Ingredients:

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp kala namak
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp tumeric
  • 1/2 cup Chao cheese (the brand)

Directions:

  1. Press the tofu for 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the spices and nutritional yeast in a small bowl to make it easier during cooking.
  3. When the tofu is finished draining, crumble with your hands.
  4. On medium heat, add the olive oil. When the oil is glistening, add the tofu. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the tofu is crispy on one side. Stir and cook for about 3-4 minutes. The tofu should be golden in color.
  5. Add the spices with nutritional yeast.
  6. Add the cheese. Cook until melted. Alternatively, you can sprinkle on top, turn off the heat, place a lid, and allow it to melt.
